Harold presents his research developing IC-MS methods for microbiome metabolomics at the Human Microbiome Conference, Jan 19–22, 2026, Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada.
The microbiome plays a critical but still not fully understood role in human health, influencing immunity, metabolism, disease susceptibility, and treatment responses. Harold has developed an Ion-exchange chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (IC-MS) methods for the measurment of short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and other relevent metabolites which extends capabilities for understanding microbiome metabolism and interactions by providing providing compound-specific mechanistic insights.
