Last Tuesday, ten students from the Oxford University Summer School for Adults (OUSSA) and their tutor Rosalind Janssen, visited us as part of their week-long accredited course on ‘Growing Up and Getting Old in Ancient Egypt’. Held by Oxford Lifelong Learning at Rewley House, OUSSA is a residential summer programme for adult learners, which runs over six weeks. The students listened to a fascinating lecture by Elisabete Pires on her research into an Ancient Egyptian foetus mummy; and following a discussion session, toured the lab with Luciana Carvalho. According to Rosalind Janssen, "The success of the visit was evidenced by subsequent references to the importance of chemical analysis in the students’ on-course essays and museum presentations."
